Discovering the South East... on foot

Enjoy outstanding South East views on foot.

A holiday to Kent and Sussex is not complete without a spot of walking. There are a variety of walks to choose from which can give you breath taking views over the channel, unrivalled viewpoints over the South East countryside, and whole lot of fresh air to build up your appetite before teatime!

The Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) has created a really easy to use website with walking in mind. Ramblers just need to go to discoveringbritain.org to search easily for the areas they are visiting. In the South East region there are several recommended walks throughout Kent and Sussex available on the website. Along with a summary of the walk, the mileage, a spot of general information and what kind of level the walk is for. So you can be sure you won’t be biting off more than you can, er, walk.

Walks on the Discovering Britain website include:

  • “The key to the Kingdom” which is in Dover
  • “Shifting sands” which is at Winchslea and Rye
  • “Folkestone Artworks”
  • “Defending a changing coast” which is at Walmer and Deal
  • “Saved haven” in historic Sandwich
  • “Magical Margate”
  • “Boats, bangs, bricks and beer” which is in Faversham

We have a number of properties close to these areas which can be found by using our search and selecting your desired location and radius.

You can find more information on these popular Souh East walking destinations elswhere on our site Rural Kent, Rural Sussex, Coastal Kent, and Coastal Sussex

Pop on your walking boots, go to the Discovering Britain website, and make the most of the great outdoors!
