A Witty Masterpiece in Margate

An amazing work of art has hit the streets of Margate! You don't have to visit the Turner Contemporary Gallery (though you should!) to enjoy gazing at original art. One must give Thanet Council its due in being so open minded as to let artist Alex Chinneck loose on a derelict house in the Cliftonville area of the town.

He has cleverly created the illusion of a house facade literally slipping down onto the pavement and leaving the top floor exposed.

It must be extraordinary to happen upon it by accident and I suspect many people will be doing double takes and wondering if they may have had one too many at lunch.  It really has to be seen to be believed.  Happily the falling down house will be there for a year and then it will be restored into more conventional living quarters again. So - yet another reason to visit Margate!
