Ightham Mote House and Gardens
“Join Ightham Mote this autumn and winter as they lay on a feast for the senses – with events and activities to suit all”
In December you can peek behind the scenes into the servant’s area to see what the Butler did with his mince pies and claret, and explore the Housekeeper’s sitting room. Enter the grand setting of a Victorian Christmas dinner in the Great Hall and encounter the domain of the gentleman in the Billiard Room where you can enjoy a game for yourselves.
As you enter the Library, you will find yourself transported across the Atlantic to discover the New England American Christmas of the 1950’s. Alongside the traditional gingerbread and candy-canes, you will see fairy lights, brightly coloured baubles, and sparkly lametta, with period music playing in the background.
Warm up with a hearty bowl of soup or Christmas lunch with all the trimmings in the Mote Restaurant. If you want a quick warming snack savour a mug of hot chocolate and homemade cake.
The Old Coach House shop boasts a selection of quality souvenirs and gifts with an array of locally produced handmade products. It’s a perfect place to find some unique presents. New for this there is an interiors boutique.
Enjoy a stroll on the ancient estate talking in the beauty of the Kent countryside following one of the estate walks.
