Sussex Bonfire Season Continues

Some 30,000 people attended the Lewes Bonfire Night on 5th November! The customary torchlight procession and effigy burning - always Guy Fawkes and a Pope and an annual hate figure thrown in for good measure - have seen Lewes frequently described as Bonfire Capital of the World! Rye held its Bonfire night on the 9th November and this was also well attended and brilliant. Still time to catch the final events of the 2013 season which started on 6th September at Uckfield. They take these ceremonies very seriously down here in the Protestant South. On Saturday 16th November Roberstbridge is the place to go while on the 23rd you have a choice of Barcombe, Hawkhurst and Northiam. We'll despatch our Wendy to check out the event at Hawkhurst.
