Visit Kent Christmas Party
Chris and I were invited to Buckmore Park for mulled wine and mince pies courtesy of Visit Kent. It was a delightful occasion and very interesting to visit Buckmore Park - possibly the country's premier go-carting track. This is where Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button got the taste for speed and thrills and now belongs to John Surtees who is expanding the opportunities for youngsters to develop a passion for motor racing. A new enhanced track and technology centre is being developed in honour of his son, Henry, who died aged 18 in a tragic accident. It all looks quite thrilling and totally terrifying in equal measure!
Amanda Cotterel, Chairman of Visit Kent, gave a most interesting talk about future plans for Kent where of course the debate rages over airport developments - why build Boris island at Sheppey when we have Manston just down the road? Manston is booming at present with new flights being offered all over the world by KLM. We also saw our friend Ali Ditzel from Chiddingstone Castle who told us about Heston Blumenthal's visit to the castle to cook Queen Victoria's favourite fish recipe (see Chris's blog for further information!). We made new friends with Lee Bennett of The Friars and will be visiting her in January to see how we can promote each other effectively.
