Chris and I visited some of our properties today and were particularly rivetted by this historic house at Lamberhurst. You literally drive through the golf course which is stunningly beautiful with views towards the Scotney Estate up to a fine old stone house with an imposing facade. Most of the historic house is let out as flats and two of them are rented out as holiday lets through Kent and Sussex Holiday Cottages, The Nursery and Courtyard Cottage.
Courtyard Cottage is accessed from the charming courtyard and has a door from the sitting room into the extensive garden which is a particular feature of the property. The other flat we have is at the top of the house up three flights of stairs and situated in the old Nursery. It has fabulous views over the grounds. The parts of the main house we were able to see are filled with fascinating portraits of the Morland family and interesting architectural features. The owners have all sorts of marvellous plans including a tea room in the Conservatory. The garden rambles this way and that and includes a walled vegetable garden, a fernery and an old tennis court that became a rose garden, there are terraced areas and a knot garden with perfectly clipped yew hedges. We are determined to go back in the summer to see the garden at its blooming best!
