On a rather dreary day this weekend, I decided to take myself to the Cinque Ports town of Hythe, near Folkestone. However a very pleasant walk along the Royal Military Canal and then a wander around the mix of shops before heading home.
There is a lot to offer in the area, the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway is a must for young and old. In the summer months you can hire boats, cycle or walk along the canal, stop off for a picnic or do a spot of fishing. Biannually there is a Venetian fete which has a great atmosphere and well worth a visit, as is Brockhill country park and the nearby Port Lympne wild life park.
