Butter's Cottage is a characterful and charming ancient cottage with origins dating from the 1600s and is situated within 2 acres of tranquil gardens, ideal for birdwatching. This property is offering discounts for two and three weeks' bookings and if you can't holiday without your four-legged friend, then they can go free of any pet charge. There are so many interesting places close by that a week at Butter's Cottage won't be long enough. Battle Abbey is only a few miles away and is the site of one of the most famous battles in England's history. Further along the coast is Rye, a fascinating medieval town with a great history of smugglers, full of architectural treasures and the enchanting cobbled Mermaid Street.
Sussex also has a growing reputation for its' wine production and the premier organic vineyard at Seddlescombe offers tours and tastings and also has a wonderful woodland nature trail. Head for the well-preserved Old Town in cosmopolitan Hastings which has a strong local arts commuity and take time to visit the new stunning Jerwood Gallery, housing a collection of 20th and 21st century British art which has never been seen by the public.
You will also find a tempting mix of pavement cafes and bistros offering a selection of mouth-watering treats. Head back to Butter's Cottage at the end of the day and relax in the lovely rural garden, enjoy the tranquility and listen to the birdsong, maybe even with a glass of something in hand!
