If the thought of fast, dare-devil rides at Thorpe Park or Alton Towers fill you with dread like it does me, then head on down to Margate. The re-opening of Margate's Dreamland this Friday will bring back childhood memories for many of us. There will be a host of stylishly restored, recreated and retro-fitted rides and amusements from the Golden Age of British seaside holidays.
The famous scenic railway which is a wooden roller coaster will be there but unfortunately won't be ready for the grand opening, however, the counter culture caterpillar ride, the jumping pirate boats, dodgems, big wheel, chair o planes to name but a few will be ready. This is excellent news for tourism in this area.
My colleague and I will be heading there to relive our childhood and to show our children what fun we used to have , although, wait a minute, I used to take my children there before it closed down in 2005. If you would like to stay for a week and enjoy all that this lovely part of Kent has to offer have a look at our website for our Broadstairs properties at Kent and Sussex cottages or ring our office on 01580 720770 or 01304 619444.
