The BBC Antiques Roadshow was filmed at Walmer Castle recently. The home of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports which includes The Duke of Wellington and The Queen Mother, stands overlooking the sea at Walmer near Deal. This part of the coast line is very fortunate to have 3 castles, all within an 8 mile stretch of the coast.

Deal Castle with its tudor rose design was built by order of Henry V111. You will see by an ariel view of the castle that it resembles a rose. Just a short distance along the coast heading West, you will find Walmer castle and then a further short drive stands the impressive Dover Castle. All part of the English Heritage so members can have a very interesting day or two experiencing life as a King or Queen.

If you would like to spend some more time enjoying the many attractions in this area, have a look at our website at kent and sussex cottages.
