If you want to avoid doing all those DIY jobs and would prefer to get away from it all, there are some great festivals on this weekend in Kent and Sussex.
The Sweeps Festival in Rochester starts on Saturday 30th April and runs all weekend with the last day on Bank Holiday Monday. This popular festival celebrates the traditional annual holiday chimney sweeps took each year on May 1 and the streets of the city are full of people dressed up as sweeps and in Victorian clothes. Highlights include Morris dancing, free folk music, folk art stalls, an artisan produce fair and fun family activities.
If gardens are your passion and you would like to see a fabulous display of tulips all in bloom, how about a visit to Pashley Manor Gardens in Ticehurst, East Sussex? The Tulip Festival, now in its twenty-second year, runs there up until Saturday 7th May (between 11am-5pm). There are over 100 different varieties on display, which means visitors will see an amazing range of colours and different shapes of tulip, from the classic shape to exotic and multi flowered styles. The event is held in association with Bloms Bulbs, winners of 64 Chelsea Gold Medals.
Whether you are looking for festivals or events or lots of different types of days out, there is something for everyone in Kent and Sussex - book one of our holiday cottages for a short break or longer stay and enjoy all that the area has to offer.
