Remember, remember the fifth of November.

Written by Brenda Hogben on

Remember, remember the fifth of November, the famous nursery rhyme about the Gunpowder Plot. Don't just remember this date though as you will miss out on some fantastic firework events. Here is a list of ones in our area, some starting this weekend so a combination of Halloween and Firework night. Here goes:

Tonbridge FC are holding their event this Friday 27th October while The Hop Farm at Paddock Wood is the following evening on Saturday 28th.

Moving onto the next weekend, there are events at:

Capel le ferne near Folkestone and Bearsted near Maidstone, both on Friday 3rd November,

Dunloran Park in Tunbridge Wells have an amazing event with fair ground rides, Quex Park at Birchington have a disney themed firework event and Ashford rugby club are a few of the organised events in Kent on Saturday 4th.

Lewes boasts the biggest UK event with processions, fireworks and bonfires, Crowborough also have an event, both of which are in Sussex area and on Saturday 4th.

The Robin Hood procession followed by a bonfire and fireworks at Icklesham is on Sunday 5th November while in Kent, Canterbury Cricket ground is hosting for this evening.

Leeds Castle, famous for fireworks to music are holding the event on both Saturday and Sunday while just a little further away from there, Kent Life near Maidstone are also holding events on both evenings.

If you are unable to attend a firework display on any of the dates above, Rye town are holding their procession and firework display on November 11th.

Last but by no means least is the event that I will be attending on Saturday 4th November.  Warden House Primary school in Deal have put on a display for several years. Always an excellent show, set up and filling the skies with a glorious array of colours, performed to music. My children attended the school and that is how my dear husband got involved all those years ago. It has progressed over the years and they are now electronically ignited. The highlight for him was the thrill of hand lighting the fireworks!!!!

Where ever you watch, don't forget the ooohhs and aahhs and tasty hotdogs.
