We arrived 20 minutes before the gardens opened to find the car park almost full, it looked like half the country had decided to visit the gardens as well!
The BBC Antiques Roadshow was filmed at Walmer Castle recently. The home of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports which includes The Duke of Wellington and The Queen Mother, stands overlooking the sea at Walmer near Deal.
At the beginning of July, I visited Blenheim Palace where Winston Churchill was born and proposed to Clementine. So, on Saturday I took the opportunity to follow on the Churchill “theme” and visited Chartwell.
