Ballarat Upper House
Ballarat Upper House comprises the upper two floors of a stunning Victorian period property, just yards from Walpole Bay in Margate. The house has been totally transformed by the artistic owner, into a fabulous, quirky and decadently luxurious seaside holiday home. Featuring rich and colourful painted walls, gold, marble and velvet, glass chandeliers, artwork, decorative fireplaces and many more designer touches, this house is more of an experience than a holiday home. But it is cosy and inviting with a wood-burner for chilly days, and a lovely walled garden for sunny, alfresco dining.
The house has a fabulous, sociable, large open-plan sitting room, dining room and kitchen which extends the length of the house. On the upper floors are four quirkily-decorated bedrooms, and two bathrooms.
Margate is a thriving, buzzing seaside town with something for everyone: from the stunning golden sands, harbour and funfair, to the artistic quarter of the Old Town. Ballarat House is also very close to the arty shops of Northdown Road and wild swimming at Walpole Bay.
Please note: the lower part of the building is a completely separate, self-contained apartment that sleeps 4 guests. Ballarat Apartment can be booked alongside the Upper House by booking Ballarat House – property reference EK771.

Out and About: Margate has so much to offer young and not so young alike. The award Golden Sands are a huge attraction, as is the vintage Dreamland funfair. The Old Town has a fabulous selection of independent vintage shops, art galleries, cafes and restaurants. Art lovers can visit the Turner Contemporary gallery, and walkers can take the Viking Trail and walk the coastal path to Broadstairs and Ramsgate.
