Description
Escape from the hustle and bustle of every day electronic life and indulge in the art of conversation. Without the distractions of phones, internet and TV you can completely unwind, de-stress and soak up the peace, quiet and far reaching countryside views.
A beautifully presented shepherd’s hut, Rumwold is one of a pair of huts, located on the edge of atmospheric Romney Marsh with its big skies and romantic tales of smugglers made famous by the Rev Dr Syn. A chance to go “off grid” and be free from Wifi and television although you should have 4G coverage - Rumwold, along with its sister Lookerer, sits appropriately in a sheep meadow with views across the marsh and up to the ridge where you will find Lympne Castle which was built in the 1080's for the Archdeacons of Canterbury. Bright and cosy with all the necessary amenities, a well thought out kitchenette and living area with a lovely wood burning stove, plus a thoughtful welcome pack of local produce, this Shepherd’s hut is a delightfully romantic base for your holiday in Kent. The Lookerer is the sister hut and can be found here https://www.kentandsussexcottages.co.uk/rural-kent/aldington-cottages/as277-the-lookerer Shop: 3 miles Pub: 2.8 miles Coast: 3.6 miles

The nearby Royal Military Canal was built to defend England during the Napoleonic wars and is now a perfect place for a relaxing walk whilst spotting kingfishers and other water birds. Romney Marsh itself is a wonderful place for bird and wildlife spotting. RSPB at Dungerness, the oldest of their reserves is also a fantastic spot for ornithologists. An uphill cycle will get you to the Historic Lympne Castle and nearby Port Lympne Wildlife Reserve. There's no need to bring your own bikes as Channel Bike Hire will deliver to your accommodation free of charge - please ask your homeowner for details. For some retail therapy visit Hythe, one of the original Cinque Ports with its long high street of local shops, or for a day at the beach head to Dymchurch less than 4 miles away.
