Description

This truly stunning oast house conversion stands in the grounds of an ancient Manor House- surrounded by paddocks and fields. Washenden Oast has been imaginatively designed to retain as many features of the original oast house - used to store and dry the once plentiful hops that were grown widely throughout Kent for the brewing of wonderful local beers. The owners have furnished it with great care to provide a very special holiday home for their guests. Biddenden village is only a short drive away - for pubs, shops and restaurants and the popular country towns of Tenterden and Cranbrook with their eclectic mix of shops and eateries are equidistant. Washenden Oast is in the perfect central location for exploring all that Kent has to offer and will be calling you home after a busy day sight seeing to relax and enjoy a little touch of luxury country living. Short breaks accepted only  in the Winter months.  Shop: 1.5 miles  Pub: 1.5 miles  Coast: 21 miles

Ground Floor:
Sitting Room
has a superb travertine marble floor which continues throughout the ground floor with toe-warming under-floor heating and a free-standing wood burning stove to keep everyone toasty even when there is snow outside. There are two comfortable sofas, a tub armchair, occasional tables, an antique dresser, TV/DVD and floor to ceiling windows with views to the fabulous old Kentish barn opposite
Kitchen/Dining Room is very spacious and well equipped providing an electric oven, halogen hob, extractor hood, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, butler sink,  plus a rustic country dining table and chairs
Utility Room houses a washing machine, tumble dryer, additional sink and storage for household equipment
Bedroom 1 is in the circular oast roundel - and has a double bed, bedside tables, chest of drawers with mirror over, a cane chair and hanging rail with wooden hangers. There is a fabulous fully tiled En-Suite Wet Room with washbasin, shaver point, towel rail and w.c

Easy carpeted stairs lead from the sitting room to a large carpeted landing with Cheval mirror and glazed opening looking down over the kitchen/diner...

Bedroom 2 is the master, situated in the roundel, with a beautiful king-size bed, bed side tables, antique wardrobe with one drawer, dressing table with mirror over, two cane chairs and is fully carpeted
Bedroom 3 is a sweet room with two single beds, chest of drawers, built-in wardrobe with shelving and a comfortable armchair. Glorious views over the fields
Bathroom has a deep bath with hand-held Victorian "telephone" style shower attachment, a separate shower cubicle, washbasin with mirror and shaver point, towel rail and w.c

Garden: Small rear enclosed garden with table and chairs and wonderful views across the paddocks - home to the owners' horses and donkeys during the year. Acres of fields with footpaths.
Parking: On gravel drive directly outside the Oast.
Heating: Oil-fired underfloor heating and wood burning stove downstairs, plus radiators upstairs.
Notes: There are unfenced ponds near the Oast so children must be supervised when outdoors.

Reviews

Very comfortable, and as described on the website.

Mrs Helen S,

The property was excellent. The fittings, kitchen, bedding, crockery etc were perfect for a family short stay. WE even managed to cook and serve Xmas lunch for 12 people without an effort or the need of extras - with the exception of borrowing a trestle table!

Mr Tim W,

A real gem. Thoroughly recommend this property for anyone looking for a jewel in the kent countryside.

Mr Clive C,

This is a wonderful holiday home in a really peaceful setting. We couldn't wait to get back to it each day. The owners could not have been more helpful and friendly.

Mr Austin C,

Very well equipped and in a quiet location close to lots of interesting Tourist attractions.

Mr Trevor K,

Good location and excellent property. Would return should we visit the area again.
