Description
This charming beamed and beautifully restored Grade II listed end-terraced cottage is approached via the famous Union Windmill which has been restored as a working museum and stands proud over the historic town of Cranbrook. 'Woody' is constructed of timber-frame and weatherboard and has been transformed into a wonderful retreat for three and would also suit a small family. The cottage (awarded our 5* Gold for cleanliness) has been furnished with great attention to detail creating a cosy and welcoming environment using calming colours on the walls and is full of lovely individual vintage pieces. There is a small wood burning stove in the sitting room and a stable door in the kitchen, where you can step out into the courtyard and enjoy the view of the windmill which is exceptionally pretty in the evenings. Cranbrook High Street is only a few minutes walk away offering a wide range of specialist shops, a Michelin star restaurant, coffee shops, delicatessens, pubs and food shops. Close by is the famous Sissinghurst Castle Gardens and the area is abundant with gorgeous National Trust properties, castles and national parks. There are footpaths nearby to enjoy as well as woodlands and forests to explore, a golf course, steam trains and a trip to a vineyard which should keep everyone happy. Trains to London and the coast are available from Staplehurst station 5 miles away.
