Out and About:

Hawkenbury is a small hamlet 2 miles outside Staplehurst and Headcorn, both towns have stations with good rail links to London and the coast.  The Euro Tunnel is only 40 mins away if you fancy popping over to France for the day.  Staplehurst has a small range of shops and restaurants and there are several good gastro pubs in the local area. There are several National Trust properties close by such as Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens and Bodiam Castle.  Leeds Castle is also a spectacular day out. Hole Park in Rolvenden and Great Dixter in Northiam are  famous gardens close by. Tenterden offers a wide range of shopping, restaurants, pubs and a sports centre with a swimming pool. It is also the home to the Kent & Sussex Railway with steam train rides.  Locally there are vineyards offering wine tours and tastings including Chapel Down, Hush Heath and Gusbourne. Hastings, Rye and Camber are all within an easy drive so don't forget your buckets and spades.  The surrounding countryside is varied with lots of opportunities for walking and cycling, playing golf (there are 3 golf courses locally) and is renowned for its seasonal fruit and farm shops.

The barn is an understatement as was totally faultless and fully exceeded our expectations. Without trying to list all the good things , we can say there absolutely nothing to be disappointed about. We met the owner and family through our stay and although they remained at a distance they were always available for advice or just a chat. We have realised what a great experience it is to have a staycation at home in England. Thanks for a great experience.

Mr and Mrs B,

Thank you for a lovely break. The Barn is lovely. We were really impressed with the standard. The flowers, amount of towels, champagne glasses and bucket, comfy beds, the rugs, a kitchen table we could all fit round and of course the hot tub were all great touches. Everything was lovely.

Miss O,
