Royal Tunbridge Wells Cottages
The town of Tunbridge Wells gets its name from the natural spring that welled up from the ground over 400 years ago. The “Royal” was added after Queen Victoria made it one of her regular holiday destinations and it is easy to see why. This elegant historic town is the ideal place to holiday with its exceptional array of shops, restaurants & cafes and beautiful surrounding countryside. It has popular theatres and there are numerous festivals, exhibitions and markets throughout the year.
If you are looking for some retail therapy then Tunbridge Wells is the perfect place to visit. At one end of the town you have the Royal Victoria Place shopping centre, Calverley Road and Mount Pleasant Road, with their high street names and department stores. Wander down Mount Pleasant Road to the High Street with some lovely exclusive boutiques and then on to the iconic Pantiles. The Pantiles originated when the spring was discovered and the elegant colonnaded walkway is perhaps the most famous landmark in Royal Tunbridge Wells. The Pantiles is the ideal location for a pleasant stroll around the specialist independent shops, art galleries and cafes where you can eat al fresco and watch the world go by.
Royal Tunbridge Wells is rich in culture with two theatres, museums and several art galleries. There is a lively music scene with performances at the Forum and in pubs and restaurants around the town. The The Pantiles hosts the summer jazz festival, regular farmers and crafts markets and the Food Festival. There are a number of other festivals in and around the town, catering for all the family.
Surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, Royal Tunbridge Wells is the perfect base for visiting the numerous gardens, historic buildings, parks, forests and family attractions in the area.
