Waltham is located only a few minutes drive from the beautiful and historic city of Canterbury, yet is surrounded by stunning unspoilt peaceful countryside, perfect for those who enjoy the outdoors, from walking on the Kent Downs to mountain biking in nearby Denge Woods and horse riding at the village stables. The excellent country pub, The Compasses Inn is just a few minutes walk across the field behind the house, a gastro pub awarded Food Pub of the Year 2017. With Canterbury so close to hand it is worth spending some time visiting the world famous cathedral and exploring this beautiful vibrant city. With great shopping, superb independent cafes and restaurants and museums such as The Roman Pavement and the Beaney House of Art and Knowledge, you may need more than one visit. Venture a little further afield to the coast and the traditional seaside towns of Hythe and Sandgate, offer independent shops, antique shops, a miniature steam railway and a lovely esplanade for breathing in the salty sea air.

It is an ideal location for us because it is the same village where we have relatives living.
A lovely cosy house in a wonderful countryside. The owners made it feel like home.
Thank you for a wonderful time in your lovely house. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Perfect weather, perfect house, perfect time.
We enjoyed staying in your characterful home in the beautiful Kent countryside.
The Old school room is a lovely place to stay. Comfortable and warm, we were made very welcome. We were perfectly looked after by the owners. An ideal place to tour around.
We loved to stay in your cosy house. You were very welcoming. Thank you for your suggestions for places to visit. We visited London and Rye, a beautiful village and marvelous views from the tower. We had a wonderful week and will never forget it.
The Old School Room is a wonderful place to stay especially for four teachers. The surroundings are beautiful and there are lots of places to visit. We will definitely recommend this property back home.
We have had a wonderful stay at The Old School Room, warm cosy and so comfortable, everything that you could need. Thank you for the provisions including the home made marmalade. Despite the February weather, we made the most of the local area, several trips to Canterbury, walks in Whitstable and Broadstairs, a visit to the lovely Turner gallery and the atmospheric Dungerness. We will be back.
