Originally the village schoolroom, this beautifully converted early Victorian property in the centre of the village offers comfortable, cosy accommodation for 4 people and the family dog. Waltham is located only a few minutes drive from the beautiful and historic city of Canterbury, yet is surrounded by stunning unspoilt peaceful countryside, perfect for those who enjoy the outdoors, from walking on the Kent Downs to mountain biking in nearby Denge Woods and horse riding at the village stables. The excellent country pub, The Compasses Inn is just a few minutes walk across the field behind the house, a gastro pub awarded Food Pub of the Year 2017. With Canterbury so close to hand it is worth spending some time visiting the world famous cathedral and exploring this beautiful vibrant city. With great shopping, superb independent cafes and restaurants and museums such as The Roman Pavement and the Beaney House of Art and Knowledge, you may need more than one visit. Venture a little further afield to the coast and the traditional seaside towns of Hythe and Sandgate, offer independent shops, antique shops, a miniature steam railway and a lovely esplanade for breathing in the salty sea air.

We absolutely loved staying at The Old Schoolroom, the cottage was very inviting and after a long day of exploring we couldn't wait to get back, sit in front of the log burner and enjoy a glass of wine!
Fabulous place and a warm welcome, we would recommend it
Thank you for a wonderful stay at your charming cottage. The Old Schoolroom is full of character. We had such a warm welcome and really appreciated the jam and marmalade. There is so much to do around and although we have been in Kent a number of times before and love revisiting places, great views from Dover cliffs and lighthouse, Turner Contemporary in Margate, shopping in Tenterden, Sissinghurst to name a few. There is still so much to discover.
Thank you so much to the owners. We have felt very much at home in The Old Schoolroom. we really don't want to leave and will be back. The welcome pack was much appreciated.
Great base for visiting Canterbury, Whitstable and the local countryside. We had a great time at Howletts Wildlife park and a delicious meal in The compasses Inn. Thank you for the recommendations. Thank you also for the welcome goodies, the marmalade in particular was delicious.
A big thank you to the owners for the wonderful stay we had at your cottage. It really was a home from home stay these past days and we have enjoyed our first time in Kent very much. Thank you in particular for the homemade marmalade and all the tips you gave us on things to do nearby. We only managed a few of them hence there's plenty more to explore to come back again. Our time at The Old Schoolroom will always be remembered as the first time our daughter got to ride a horse with saddle and stirrups and our son cut his first tooth.
