Food and Drink

No matter where in rural Sussex you are visiting, you will not be disappointed with the cuisine. Boasting of many farms generating high quality English produce and an abundance of farm shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés where you can try it out for yourself, you will be spoilt with choice.

Why not try some adventurous cuisine at Restaurant Tristan? Putting unlikely combinations together and making them taste exquisite, located in Horsham (not far from Crawley) this restaurant is quite central and people are raving about the inventive menu.

After a quite local pub that serves food with a smile, then pay a visit to The Sir Roger Tichborne. Warm yourself by the cosy open fire on a cold day and enjoy home cooked food using local produce no matter the weather.

If you head to Lewes, contact Harvey’s brewery and have a look around their brewery, the oldest in Sussex. Even if you don’t have a tour, head into their shop or one of their pubs to try some of their beers, wines or spirits – they certainly are diverse!

If a vineyard is what you are after, then visit Ridgeview, one of the top ten vineyards in Sussex. Located in Hassocks, just up the road from Brighton and not far from Burgess Hill, they traditionally create a sparkling white wine that has won the trophy for 'Best Bottle Fermented Sparkling Wine' – Now that has got to be worth a taste!
