Approached down a secluded country lane through beautiful woodland with wild anemones and bluebells - this imposing tower, adjoining the owners' farmhouse - originally the Shooting Lodge for the Ashburnham Estate, is in the most wonderful location. The views from the top of the tower are incredible - not only over the fields and woodlands but to Hastings and beyond. The property ranges over four floors starting on the ground floor with a magnificent open plan reception room with high ceilings in original wood panelling, triple aspect Gothic revival windows and an impressive large fireplace. Walk to nearby Eatenden Wood and observe some unique birds in the hedgerows. For medieval history just a short drive to nearby Battle will take you right into the heart of 1066 country. Experience a real taste of country life in the sympathetically renovated splendour of this unique property. Shop: 1.5 miles Pub: 1.5 miles Coast: 9 miles

Fantastic property - lovely garden, comfortable rooms, great views, all the necessary equipment provided, good location in the countryside but near to Battle and the seaside at Hastings. Very friendly owners living next door. Great post office/shop/cafe and pub a mile or so down the road. Lots of stairs so not good for people with dodgy hips and knees.
A lovely, super-equipped, quirky property that perfectly suited our family of seven adults. Sadly the bad weather didn't allow us to enjoy the BBQ and the garden or to explore the lovely countryside around Netherfield, but we settled for the cosy, comfortable atmosphere in the Shooting Box Tower. Visits to Battle Abbey, Bodiam Castle and a lovely birthday meal at the Sweet Olive in Battle all contributed to a super stay. We hope to return one day.
