Description
Primrose Lodge is a charming and cosy retreat for couples or would suit a solo traveller, located a few miles from the quaint village of Mayfield. Set amidst the countryside in a peaceful setting in the grounds of the owners' home, but perfectly secluded and private, it makes for a perfect escape to unwind and relax. The open plan living space has been decorated and furnished to a high standard, using colourful fabrics to set the tone. There is a cosy wood burning stove and the property has underfloor heating throughout, making it the perfect base for anytime of the year. The dual aspect bedroom has a sumptuous king size bed and there is a separate bathroom with a deep double-end bath. French doors open out onto a gravel courtyard with a table and chairs, perfect for an early morning cup of tea before the day begins. The location is ideal for exploring the local points of interest and is bordered with Kent, opening up opportunities for exploring both counties. Shop: 2 miles Pub: 2 miles Beach: 18 miles

Kitchen: fitted with an electric hob and electric fan oven, slimline dishwasher, fridge with ice box. Washer/dryer is in the bathroom cupboard. No microwave
Bedroom: has a king size bed, bedside tables with lamps, mirror, chair and built-in wardrobe with hanging and shelving space
Bathroom: Double-end bath with rain shower, washbasin, heated towel rail, w.c.
Garden: part enclosed, part screened gravel area with table and chairs, bench, charcoal barbecue, log store
Parking: available for 2 cars on private driveway, one in front of the other
Heating: underfloor heating throughout, wood burning stove with logs provided
Pets: 2 small to medium dogs welcome. Please note that the garden is not enclosed and there are sheep in the neighbouring field
Notes: WiFi available, shared with owners. Guests are welcome to bring their own cot for an infant up to 6 months.
Out and About:
There is a mainline station at Wadhurst 5 miles away and the quaint village of Mayfield is 2 miles away. There are many things to do and see close by: the beautiful gardens at Pashley Manor which hosts an annual tulip festival, National Trust Properties at Hever, Bodiam and Scotney Castles. Battle is 17 miles away with its ruined Abbey and Herstmonceux Castle and Observatory Science Centre are an enjoyable day out as is Batemans, the former home of Rudyard Kipling. Charleston House, the former home of the Bloomsbury Set, is 24 miles away with circular walks from the house and a lovely tea room en route. If you're a fan of the Opera then Glyndebourne is approximately 40 minutes away. The Seven Sisters Country Park is situated in the South Downs National Park and is perfect for walking, bird walking and cycling. There are dedicated cycle routes and trails at nearby Bewl Water and Bedgebury Forest. Pevensey Bay is 26 miles away; dogs are allowed on this beach although restrictions may apply in high season. Rye and Camber Sands are to the south or Brighton with its eclectic mix is to the north. The nearest pubs are in Mayfield where you will find The Rose & Crown which is dog friendly and The Middle House, both of which serve excellent food and local beers. The Star at Old Heathfield again serves very good food and is dog friendly. Tunbridge Wells is a 20 minute drive and is an historical spa town also known for its vibrant cafe and shopping culture.
